Canadian Survey on Disability 2017-2022 Analysis
The Canadian Survey on Disability released new results that cover the years 2017 to 2022. There have been a couple of improvements since previous years; persons with disabilities are more likely to be employed than in the past. 62% of working-age adults are employed, compared to 78% of people without disabilities. Even though more people with disabilities are finding employment, the rate is lower among individuals with more severe disabilities and the pandemic severely affected the financial situations of most people, with disabilities and without.
As youth experience the largest increase in disability rates, and mental health-related disabilities are on the rise, inclusion is of utmost importance. Reimagining workplaces that shed awareness on disabilities while simultaneously recreating practices with inclusion in mind is how our workforces are going to create change for the better.
