Annual Multiculturalism Day

60 min. duration

Description

Canada’s National Multiculturalism Day is a day to celebrate our cultural diversity. Celebrating difference, as well as common interests, helps unite and educate us. In our similarities we find comfort; in our differences we find strength.
In 1971, Canada was the first country in the world to adopt multiculturalism as an official policy. Since then, our understandings and perspectives on the concept of multiculturalism have matured and deepened to current aspirations toward Intercultural learning and engagement.

In this workshop, participants will explore this important transition in the way we understand cultural diversity and the positive impact this can have in the employment sector. The workshop will explore concepts and strategies that support intercultural learning and development in the workplace and explain how this perspective shift strengthens capacity to recruit and retain immigrant workers at all levels of employment, from entry level to professional roles.
