Indigenous History: Introduction to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission

60 min. duration

Description

Truth and Reconciliation is a term used across the world to describe the ‘two-pronged’ approach to understand and respond to the lasting impacts colonization has had on Indigenous.

In order to create systemic change, we must first address and understand the concepts of reconciliation, decolonization, and Indigenization.

This workshop focuses on historic events that lead to the critical work that is Truth and Reconciliation. By sharing the truth about past and present discrimination and disadvantages faced by Indigenous communities, organizations can make the societal, economic and structural changes required to move forward in a way that is mutually beneficial to all peoples.
