About the Project

The focus of the work of the Alberta Employment First Network (AEFN) is to increase employment outcomes, build member capacity, engage regional employers across Alberta and to support policymakers in informed decision-making regarding employment inclusion. This is an Alberta Disability Employment Inclusion initiative.
The AEFN Steering Committee will be comprised of a combination of service providers, self-advocates, employers, and policymakers. The AEFN will ensure diverse representation from all regions of Alberta. AEFN is looking for individuals with knowledge and expertise in supporting the projects deliveries of a range of province-wide capacity and networking events and employment services to create Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) within the workforce. The AEFN will meet bi-weekly, the time commitment for Steering Committee members is anticipated 3 to 4 hours a month. The initial commitment is for one year, with the op􀆟on for yearly renewal up to six years.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with other committee members to recruit and select new committee members.
  • Provide guidance and support to the AEFN Director and team.
  • Act as a representative of the network in the community
  • Attending regular committee meetings, actively participating in discussions, and providing input on strategic direction.
  • Review and approve network policies and procedures.
  • Monitor the network’s financial performance and ensure compliance with project deliverables and reporting requirements.
  • Assist in fundraising efforts by leveraging personal networks and participating in fundraising events.
  • Help recruit and onboard new committee members, ensuring a diverse and skilled Steering Committee composition.
  • Act as an ambassador for the network, representing its mission and values to external stakeholders.

Please note that this is a volunteer position. Committee members are expected to dedicate their time, expertise, and resources to support the network’s growth.
