Our Mission
Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society is committed to building upon the strengths of Aboriginal Children, youth and families to enable them to grow spiritually, emotionally, physically and mentally so that they can walk proudly in both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities.
Healing The Community
Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society has been serving Indigenous children, youth and families in Edmonton and area since 1994.
Bent Arrow is dedicated to supporting the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being of Indigenous children, youth, and families in Edmonton and surrounding areas. We provide culturally responsive programming that promotes healing, resiliency, and cultural connectedness.
We have been guided by the teachings of Elders and Knowledge Keepers, as well as the wisdom of Indigenous communities. Our founders strongly believed that keeping culture at the centre of everything we do was crucial and that this important work was best done in partnership. Over time, we have developed strong partnerships with many and are proud to see that culture continues to play a central role in our practice. We also support many partners in elevating their capacity to serve the the local Community through an Indigenous lens in a culturally relevant, authentic and sincere way.
Our approach is holistic and strengths-based, and we honour the diversity of Indigenous cultures and traditions. We work collaboratively with families, schools, and community partners to provide a range of services, including:
- Early childhood development
- Family Support
- Youth Leadership and Empowerment
- Cultural Education and Awareness
- Healing and Wellness
