Global and Local Research Insights on Wellbeing of Children and Youth of African Descent: Forging New Directions
This Black History Month, join us for a powerful and timely conversation on the health and wellbeing of children and youth of African descent.
Dr. Mary Ani Amponsah, Visiting Professor at the University of Calgary, will
present findings from her research in Ghana, highlighting the lived realities of
vulnerable African children, including street involved children and those left
behind by migration. Dr. Bukola Salami will then situate this global evidence
within the Canadian context, examining the mental health experiences of children
and youth of African descent in Canada.
The session will conclude with an engaging town hall discussion focused on
collective action bringing together community members, researchers, and
stakeholders to chart a path toward building a sustainable and culturally
responsive support system for children and youth of African descent in Canada.
African meal will be provided at the event.
