The Bridge to Inclusion – Aaksistoiihkas – online

Community Futures Treaty Seven (CFT7) would like to invite you to a virtual presentation, the first in the series “Bridge to Inclusion” on Friday, October 20th from 9:30am to 11:00am.

The presentation will highlight USAY’s impactful programming, that is bridging tradition and innovation to create inclusive spaces for Indigenous youth, as well as addressing accessibility and inclusivity.

Presenters: Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth

LeeAnne Ireland, Executive Director

LeeAnne Ireland is a mixed-race, Anishinaabe person from the central Ontario area. A graduate from Trent University with a degree in Indigenous Studies, LeeAnne has been the Executive Director at the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth (USAY) since 2008. LeeAnne primarily focuses on social justice issues facing Indigenous youth living in the Calgary area, and with their involvement, creates programs, tools, and supports that foster healing, well-being, and empowerment. LeeAnne’s goal is to shift the narrative of Indigenous people to showcase the strength, resiliency, and vibrancy that Indigenous possess throughout the world.

Jennifer Fournier, Program Director

Jennifer Fournier, born in Calgary and hailing from North Battleford, Saskatchewan, is a proud individual of mixed Cree and Anishinaabe heritage. With a rich background in aiding those with different abilities, she has dedicated three decades to breaking down employment and inclusion barriers within her community and among her people. Beyond her professional life, Jennifer finds solace in her love for rescue dogs and her passion for reading. Her overarching message is a testament to the profound impact she and USAY have on fostering authentic relationships with youth, guiding them towards becoming the best versions of themselves.

CFT7 would like to recognize The Province of Alberta is working in partnership with the Government of Canada to provide employment support programs and services.

The 2023-2024 Bridge to Inclusion Event is also sponsored in part through a grant from the Government of Alberta – Indigenous Relations Employment Partnership Program.
